Javier Chavira, a visual artist and educator, holds the belief that Nature serves as an antidote to the tumult of our contemporary era. His creations embody a visual language characterized as organic abstraction, diverging from the mere replication of the natural world. Instead, Chavira employs an intuitive process, delves into material exploration, and integrates formal elements to unearth and forge new forms that hover between abstraction and representation, without rigidly adhering to either. The work in this exhibition exemplifies this distinctive approach. His art exhibits a keen responsiveness to the subtleties of color relationships, a discernible mindfulness of materials and format. While individual works are capable of existing as standalone entities, they also harmonize cohesively when grouped together. At its core, Chavira endeavors to infuse his creations with a sense of mystery. His work invites moments of pause and wonder, encouraging contemplation not only of the familiar and unfamiliar but also of the unexpected and the inexplicable.
